Interview With a New Hero - Khren

Khren Dryz'Daetyn, Imperial Lieutenant (Number One Vampires)

Khren has been mudding for around two years and found Darkstone four or five months ago through the mudconnector. Khren's favorite places in the land are the sewers and the troll caves, mainly because they are complex areas with lots of mobs and puzzles that keep him guessing and offer a thrill when in danger. Finaly beating them gives him a feeling of accomplishment.

When asked what his favorite strategy is for fighting mobs or foes he has this to say:

My techniques vary depending on the foe. If your foe has lots of spells cast on them, open up battle with a spell such as "dispel magic" and let your own swords and spells do the talking. If the foe is all brute force, cast all the defensive spells you have and open up battle with something such as "ill fortune" or "poison". Remember to be offensive in spells to take your foe down as quickly as possible.

Language Guildmasters Moving into Darkstone

The long awaited language guildmasters are slowly making their way into the lands of Darkstone. They are a shy bunch and prefer to remain hidden deep in the lands. Luckily the riddlemaster is keeping track of where they are and will give you a clue if you can answer his riddles. Our thanks to Saruman for his hard work. :)

TIME CAPSULE:

I thought it would be interesting to go back into the old emails and see who our oldest players were. It turns out that Ainvar and Khreanos belong to the class of 1997. There are probably more players that have played as long, but these are the two I know for sure! Ainvar and Khreanos have both been players and builders at different times over the years. Their loyalty and devotion is second to none!

Looking back at the old emails, here is what I noticed. When John and I began collaborating to make Legends of the Darkstone we had a few basic ideas/goals. We wanted a mud that was very friendly, encouraged role-playing, was original, involved the players in the game, and maintained a constant storyline based upon the legendary darkstone.

Feel free to email me and give me any feedback on how well we have stuck to our original ideas and goals. It was hoped that through common goals we could create a world where everybody felt a sense of belonging. To be honest, many of the people on Legends of the Darkstone are like family to me. It sounds corny but I think about the players and the game even when I am not online. This is where my stories come into play. If anybody else out there is as warped as I am and has the darkstone world on their mind all day, please put these thoughts to paper and submit them to me or to Ydnat. We have a players page and would be glad to post the better ones for everyone to read.

Notes from the Mud

Thanks to Jonesy for the great player review he posted on the Mudconnector. public_html.mudconnector.com (do a search for Darkstone then click on player reviews)

Feenix is working hard on an advertising banner for Darkstone. He's also working on some graphics of some of the areas. Watch for his artwork coming to a website near you.

Profile of the Vampire Clan

by Magus, Leader of the Vampires

A clan devoted to preserving and protecting a people who have been hunted and despised throughout the ages. The Vampire Clan is a relatively free-form clan, which places few restrictions upon its members, allowing them many personal freedoms. The clan does, however, place strong emphasis on loyalty, to its deity, its leader, and to each of the individuals within the clan. It is for the loyalty and respect that the members show each other that so many have chosen to join the clan, and why it still remains the largest clan in Darkstone. Most people who join are vampires, but many others have chosen to lend their support to the clan, mostly knights and thieves. The clan deity is Seluctruh, the god of vampires, and most members are devout worshippers of him, although the dark angel Jehane is a popular alternative. Entrance requirements are simply a personal inspection and brief interview from me, or any of my ranking lieutenants. Any severe breaking of the rules (especially open hostility or PKing other clan members without provocation) is grounds for dismissal from the clan.

The clan is the only evil aligned clan in Darkstone, and as such, we generally get the more unique players, who wish to truly let themselves go and role-play as they feel. While our primary purpose is to provide protection for the vampires, we also corrupt sources of light within the land and turn them to our dark ways, so they will better serve us. The clan stands ever watchful over the so called forces of light, but is content to be at peace for the time being. The clan offers personal assistance from all high level vampires, in whatever capacity we are needed, to help our more inexperienced kindred. Be it equipment, advice, directions, or simple corpse retrieval, all high level vampires are prepared to help at a moment's notice. Clan quests are run occasionally, with points of glory being the standard reward.

If you're looking for a close clan, and are interested in a unique role-playing experience, feel free to contact any of our members with any questions you may have. We'd be happy to have your support!
