Barset, the Forsaken, Darkness Forger
The Seeds of Darkness
The darkness was sown deep in the blood, placed there by a bite, drawing
from the being it inhabited life, drawing sustenance, drawing what it
needed to grow and to spread. The darkness spread its roots deep into
the soul, sustaining itself and changing the forms which it found buried
deep there. The roots dug deep and from them, shafts were sent up, creeping,
clinging, molding, and reshaping the thoughts, the patterns, twisting,
darkening, blackening. The shafts sprouted dark leaves which fanned out
and swallowed the light, to live, to grow. The light: needed, wanted,
subjugated. Devouring the light to flourish, pulling the brightness out
of the world to grow, to envelop, to control. The darkness grew and thrived
and it began to make its seeds...
The new form was easy to wear for Barset. He sat in his forest cave pondering,
thinking, changing. The change took many mortal years, but it manifest
itself immediately in his mind. He remembered well the lessons of the
light. He remembered well the work he had done. He understood now the
futility, the helplessness, the lack of power held in the light, the utter
simplicity which the light always failed to see. He would be able to mold
the light, use it, harness it, for he understood its ways. He sat in his
forest and watched its bows change about him. The trees altered their
form and blackness descended in their branches. They began to shift, to
move, to hunt, to devour the light for their own purposes. And they moved
outward, ever creeping, ever edging towards new lands, bringing with them
darkness. They spread their blackened limbs from their epicenter, Barset.
He sat and watched their change, formed their change, and his own. The
bite had altered his path, now he created what was needed to follow the
dim trail and to create a new night. The path was before him he now only
needed to sow the Seeds of Darkness...
