Seluctruh gazed at the world he and Tarin created. He did this by gazing
through a small stone that was affixed to a chain he wore around his
neck. The townspeople of Windy Bluff was still abuzz about the Goddess
Jehane's act of heroism the day before. He heard one female in particular
who was proclaiming her sincere appreciation.
Lyssa proclaimed "The goddess Jehane, the figure of passion and warmth
most divine. A glorious being outshined by none except the brightest
of stars, and even they cannot last so long as the Goddess Jehane's
beauty."
Seluctruh beamed with a sense of pride. Jehane has been one of the
first Goddesses to walk the lands of Darkstone. She was clearly the
most evil Goddess, by far. He was pleased to hear the praise, but was
hoping that Lyssa would shed some more light on Jehane's true nature.
After all, Jehane supported the dark side of the Darkstone and saw her
act as what it truly was, a way for her to bring more followers to their
path. It must be known what Jehane stands for? just then this message
was came:
Lyssa proclaimed "I look upon Jehane, and I am reminded of a rose.
So deep in it's natural beauty, so peaceful. But I dare not touch, for
the thorns are most sharp and wrought with pain. if I touch, as many
times I have tried, the red rose, only becomes darker with my blood."
The message rang out louder than words could say. Jehane was a indeed
filled with darkness and pain. Her world was one of constant pain and
pleasure. On the outside she was pure beauty, yet, she had the power
to cause much pain when she choose.
Seluctruh was in better spirits now. For days he faced the constant
battle with the evil nature of the stone. He found solace in the company
of the other gods. He remained loyal to Tarin and together they worked
out their differences to face these trying times. It was too much even
for them. They turned to their trusted advisor Ydnat.
The accomplishments of Ydnat were known by many throughout the land.
Ydnat was always there to help the other immortals. His selfless efforts
to bring about positive change in the land made him one of the more
important immortals. Ydnat twisted the negative energy flowing in the
land and diverted as much of it away as he could. For this, many were
thankful.
The Dark Lord focused his thought back into the stone. He saw the
newest immortal, Lacar, talking with Kira. He was very interested in
this conversation. Rumor had it Lacar was out to steal many from Seluctruh's
loyal ranks. Many who did not openly worship the Dark One still were
very loyal to him secretly. The dark ones mind began to drift ? thoughts
of his actions in the past days flooded his mind. He saw himself going
to Kira?going to Tatianna?going to Villani? only to find them deep in
conversation with Lacar. He would only hear a few words before he was
noticed each time. It was always talk of betrayal. Deep down, Lacar
knew these three held Seluctruh in their hearts. They were loyal to
him, but Lacar had plans to turn them against him. This was driving
the Dark Lord insane, and Lacar knew it. The young immortal openly made
his plans known to all. He knew he could do this. His charismatic personality
made others very defensive of him. When Seluctruh tried to punish the
behaviors of the new immortal, Tatianna and the others were quick to
remind him that new immortals made mistakes. He needed room to grow
and make his mistakes, and thus learn from them. The anger only increased.
The emotions were only eased by the thoughts of Tatianna. Her heart
was pure and true. It was her nature to see the good in everyone. Even
the darkest of them all, Seluctruh. The Dark One, tired from all the
energy he exerted to resist the evil of the past week, lay down in his
coffin. He closed his eyes and was about to drift off. He heard a noise
and opened his eyes to find the Goddess, Tatianna. At first he could
not believe it. She never came to his place of evil.
"I seek council from you, m'lord", replied Tatianna.
Seluctruh leaped out from his coffin in true immortal fashion. He
was not expecting company and quickly waved his hands around in an effort
to clean up the clutter around his Lair. It did nothing to help the
matter. In his nervous state, his spells backfired miserable and jars
and statues smashed to the ground.
The Dark One smiled. "M'lady, please forgive the mess. The wenches
who keep the place up have been most unreliable. I shall slit their
throats and dance on their corpses when I see them next."
Tatianna grimaced. "Please no. It is quite alright. I just stopped
by for a minute, m'lord. I have something to discuss with you."
Seluctruh was more curious now. What would bring the Goddess of light
to his Lair. Was this some kind of trick. Random thoughts danced in
his head. "What is it then, don't keep me waiting m'lady. You being
here makes me most uncomfortable. What will the other gods say. I have
a reputation to uphold you know. This does not ?"
Tatianna cut the rambling god off as she knelt before him. "I cannot
hide my feeling for you any longer. There is something I MUST tell you.
The past few years has been pure torment for me. My heart ? but not
my soul ? yearns to be with you. It is a fight that I must win. My worshippers
need me to be strong. But something is happening to me. The thought
of you dances in my head every waking minute. I wish you to release
your hold on me. I beg of you?"
Seluctruh, taken aback by these drastic cries for help, could only
nod appreciatively. At first he was willing to grant the goddess her
wish. But them he remembered Lacar. The pain he caused the Dark One
these past few nights could not be measured. It is true that the Dark
One is evil. But Tatianna did not deserve this fate. He MUST release
her from the spell he had over her. He fought the demons that raged
inside his head. Finally, he looked into Tatianna's eyes and whispered
the words, "Suma lanti verla duxali kealchya juc jebula niheili."
The spell immediately took effect.
It is not sure if the spell released the bond. Tatianna felt a new
sense of freedom. But she was more confused now than before. The charisma
of the Dark One was powerful. Could a spell break this powerful bond?
So many questions raced through her mind. She thought it best if she
did not travel out this night. She was confused and a bit disoriented.
Seluctruh, the gentleman that he is, arranged for a bed and some fresh
fruits and water to be brought for the goddess. Not that she needed
them, he just thought it was a good gesture. He climbed into his coffin
and shut the lid tightly. He drifted off into a deep slumber. When he
opened his eyes again, things seemed different. His coffin was now open
and his room was back to the way it was. All the glass had been cleaned
off the floor and Tatianna was gone.
The words he spoke to her echoed in his head. Those words, loosely
translated meant, "If it takes a lifetime to find my heart, I shall
give it to you."
