A party of adventures set out to the Kithan Mountains where it was
rumored that some of the rogue vampires went to hide out. Upon reaching
the top, they found the Lord Seluctruh standing there in his mortal
form. At first, they did not know it was the Dark Lord. They were about
to approach upon him when they heard him speak.
Seluctruh bellows, "As I stand on the mountain before you, I feel
it necessary to release some information so that you may relay it to
the people. I have seen the coming of the first light and the end of
the darkest day. About two weeks of the most chaotic and evil times
are among us. The people may know about the Thirteen says of evil. But
this years events will be as trying, and as important, as the year that
St. Augustine and his knights were destroyed. It has been writing in
the stones of time what is to come. Yes, the stones.... Our most treasured
items in all the land. They warn of upcoming hardship to the people.
Only your faith, determination, and courage will save you. You must
all come together as one. Those that dare to walk their own ways face
death."
The leader of the group, a vampire named Magus, approached his Lord.
He bowed before the Dark One and showed the proper deference. He walked
back down to his group and told them all to pack up. They knew their
destiny was to head back to town and relay this vital information to
the people.
A young Gith Gypsy thought he was invincible this very day. Standing
a mere '5 "8 he stood out in the group with his long, jet black hair
and sinister black eyes. Red being his favorite color, he was clad in
it from head to toe. He was about to be covered in even more red.
The young Gith dared to speak to the Dark Lord.
"Seluctruh, why should we believe these stories you tell. It is my
opinion that you are trying to do nothing but cause trouble in the land.
It is you who causes this hardship to the people year after year," snapped
Melinko.
"You dare speak to a God like this? I would not show myself to you
if it was not a life or death situation. Tarin and I both help create
all that you see. We do not want to see all that we have done become
threatened if it can be helped. A bit of advice for you, Melinko, never
speak to a god unless you are spoken to first," bellowed Seluctruh.
Melinko replied smuggly, "If you care so much for what you created,
you will not kill me for speaking my mind. I have no love for vampires
and no love for you and your evil ways. Kill me if you must. My words
have been spoken and I will not apologize for them."
Seluctruh knew all eyes were upon him. Tormented by the visions of
his vampires being cut down the night before danced in his head. He
secretly cursed the powers of the Darkstone for even he had no control
over it. These days were most trying to him. The Chaotic evil that possessed
his weaker vampires the day before had no immediate affect on him. Now,
he had become consumed by a hate he had not faced for over a year. Leaping
upon Melinko with bared fangs, Seluctruh tore open the mans throat and
tossed the lifeless corpse to the ground.
Standing over Melinko's body, Seluctruh stared at the gypsy.
Upon seeing this act, he group ran down the mountain with a fear they
had never experienced before. They all would live to see another day.
Even Melinko would be spared. Seluctruh knew he had done an unspeakable
deed. But the anger was still swelling up inside him. I will make this
poor soul regret the day he showed me any disrespect, thought Seluctruh.
Seluctruh chanted a few words of an unfamiliar language. Melinko's
lifeless body began to stir. Melinko wondered what happened ... and
why he suddenly had an uncontrollable urge to feast on blood. A new
vampire had been created.
"You will now know the curse that is my people", proclaimed Seluctruh
