Madam Sylvia walked through Windy Bluff seeking out some new clientale.
Her tent in the Bar-Gith forest had been less than profitable since
rumors of the Shadow Stalkers lurking there leaked out. She was clothed
this day in a conservative blue dress. In her hair she wore a yellow
scarf to protect her hair from the wind. She was hoping to read a few
fortunes and get her name out to those who would not otherwise know
about her unique talent.
She rounded a corner and saw a suitable person to approach. He was
a dark-haired an with with greyish eyes and a grey tint to his skin.
With a little coaxing he was soon searching in his pouch for some coins
to pay for her services.
Sylvia smiled at the man. She was considered attractive by most standards
and her looks charmed more than the average man. Khreanos was no different.
Thoughts of marriage even danced in his mind. Odd he thought, since
he just met this lady.
Sylvia decided to impress her new customer by revealing some things
that would baffle his mind. She pulled out a small crystal ball from
her bag and began to gaze into it. "Your name is Khreanos. I see you
come from a bloodline of Eldari, a race also known as the Wanderers.
Your mother, however, was human."
Khreanos was impressed. He was new to the lands and had not had time
to tell anybody his name, let alone the kind of details she foretold.
"I see many visions?like this one?a wolf walks out from the dark shadows
and across your path. No, it was only a vision in your mind. The vision
slips away. But the dark shadows remain," proclaimed Sylvia
Khreanos replied, "A worshipper attacked me as I entered town. It
is odd that he was here so far away from Eria. There were more of them
gathered around town. I didn't ask any questions. I am new here and
do not want to stir up any trouble."
Madame Sylvia replies, "It was an omen. The wolf represents the worshippers.
The attack was real. A strange evil has fallen upon the lands. But the
worshipper was able to tell you are having doubts about your belief
in your deity. That ? and the power of the Darkstone is radiating immense
evil, which are driving the worshippers mad this day?"
Khreanos was just about to say something when Sylvia's eyes rolled
back in her head and she started to speak in a strange voice.
"A lady stands alone at night. She stares at the massive celestial
bodies in the sky. She seeks the answers to the mysteries of life. She
believes in the powers above. She follows the path of the sun. Her answers
will not come in this time of Darkness. Pray to the gods of light to
show you the way. Pray for the courage to accept love in your heart.
Pray for the wisdom to use that love to choose between right and wrong.'"
Khreanos started to think about his recent devotion to the Goddess,
Tatianna. He was about to ask just what the heck Sylvia meant when she
began to speak in yet another voice.
"A man stands alone during the day. He glances at the mighty sun above.
He seeks the answers to the mysteries of life. He follows the path of
the moon. His answers will not come in this time of Light"
"Wait a minute," replied Khreanos. "Please make sense, lady."
Sylvia snapped out of her trance and stared at Khreanos. She had only
a vague idea what she has just said herself.
Sylvia sat down on the street and slowly began to try and explain
in a way so that somebody with a limited sense of the Darkstone could
understand.
"To make it simple, just imagine this. The sun is mearly a large piece
of the Darkstone, a piece that holds massive amounts of the properties
that make things good aligned. The moon is just a large piece of the
darkstone holding much evil. Rumore has it the sun guides Tarin and
his followers, and the moon guides Seluctruh and his followers. Thus,
you see vampires and other creatures who are evil only coming out at
night. The darkness tends to bring out the worst in people. The light
tends to bring out the best. Khreanos appeared to be understanding Sylvia.
" May I ask on favor," Khreanos said hesitantly. "I now am devoted to
the Goddess, Tatianna, as you know. Can you help get the evil out of
my body. I use to follow the ways of the dark. I feel Seluctruh may
still have some of his influence in me."
"Sure, it will cost a little extra to perform that for you. But it
can be done," replied Sylvia.
She gently placed her hands over the top of Khreanos head. She chanted
some words and soon Khreanos was in a deep trance. His body slowly sloped
down and she adjusted him so that he lay on his back. She placed her
hands one inch above his body and moved them the whole way up and down
his whole body.
>From out of the shadows came a giant of a woman. She stood just over
8ft tall. The tone of her skin was a dark shade of brown, marking her
as a Haran. Her blue eyes registered a cold calculation, analyzing what
was taking place.
Lyssa was a follower of Seluctruh. A knight by trade, she blended
in with the other knights in order to keep tabs on the knights of the
land. She kept her Lord abreast of the happenings within the ranks of
the knighthood. She played her part well. She was a trusted member of
their order. Lyssa was on her way to a meeting of the knights when she
stumbled upon a lady standing over a fallen man. The lady was chanting
strange words and her victim lay unconscious. It was no concern of hers
until she heard the Dark One's name.
"Be gone evil! I cast thee out in the name of all that is good and
holy! Let the Lord Seluctruh trouble this soul no more," replied the
gypsy
As Lyssa took a closer look she saw that the man was indeed a vampire.
For some reason this lady was doing some sort of exorcism on one of
Seluctruh's followers. She acted quickly. With lightning speed she withdrew
her sword as she ran towards the two. Sylvia barely had time to look
up before the blow hit her. Within seconds, she lay dying in the street.
Lyssa put the man over her shoulders and carried him off quickly. She
did not want to stay around to explain this to the town guards.
Sylvia was losing blood fast. Her yellow ribbon was drenched in blood
from the large gash on her head. She fumbled for her pouches but the
effort was futile. She gasped A few times as she coughed up some blood.
She took her last breath as death overtook her.
An eclipse crossed over the largest of the celestial bodies in the
sky. A bad omen had just occurred.
