As
I entered the room the others were already waiting for me. Behind me three
scholars of the circle carried in the chests with the items adventurers
had gathered for me from all over the realm. I greeted the nine mages,
all my friends and fellow members of the Da'Sha circle, and took my place
around the big fire burning high up into the dome like hall. I gestured
to each of the nine magicians to take out one package, one set of ten
items that we would need for this experiment of ancient gypsy magic.
I took a careful glance about verifying that we all were ready. I
then took the parchment out from under my robe and began to recite:
"The ingredients needed for this magical spell can be found in the
lands, between heaven and hell."
"One item blue and another one white."
While I called out the words, the other nine each took out the item
and tossed them into the fire.
Blue hoods and various robes were devoured by the fire. Blueish scrolls
disappeared in a puff of smoke when coming in contact with the flames
outline. A white visor began to glow and was was slowly melting in this
magical fire. A white potion burst into several shards, sending them
flying past a young male glandar mage, who then threw in a giant, white
pearl, that rolled to the very center of the flames, glowing mysteriously.
"two different wristlets, one worn left, one worn right."
Wristlets made of elven berries flew into the fire, others made of
small cloth bags, filled with a powdery substance joined this destiny.
Even some golden bracelets shortly blinked in the fire, rapidly melting
away.
"A herb to attract the spirit of air."
"From a mountain dweller a patch of his hair."
A whole field of windy herbs was thrown in, accompanied by a handful
of pixie dust. Suddenly a gust of winds blew threw the hall, the fire
shortly flickering. Then it seemed that a whole troglodyte was jumping
into the fire as every one of the nine tossed in patch of hair.
"Something red to invite the spirit of fire."
"Something brown what the spirit of earth would admire."
A blood-red robe began to kit out the fire, followed by red breeches
and a fire ruby encrusted belt. Another single ruby was thrown in, joining
the glowing white pearl in the middle. The head of a firedrake, red
scales covered in red blood, was devoured quickly by the strong upflaring
fire. In this new created heat, the roots and mushrooms, sticks and
brown boots didn't resist the destroying force of the fire too long.
"Some water to persuade the 4th spirit to come."
"And last a small bread, better just a small crumb."
A tremendously loud hiss echoed through the dome and steam filled
the hall as flasks and barrels of water were tossed into the fire. From
several directions whole poles of pure water were thrown in like spears,
piercing a victims body. Last the nine took out some kind of bread,
orcish travel bread here, two loafs of bread from the druid tree bakery.
A dry desert bread was eaten quickly by the fire as were the small breadcrumbs,
that tourists tend to feed to the seagulls on Barude.
The fire once more flared up, reaching two times the height of a troll,
and then...
..it vanished.
For a moment we stood in complete darkness. Temporarly struck blind
by the great optical difference I relied on my sense of hearing...but
I stood in total silence, except the breathing of us ten. One after
the other of us created a small ball of light to illuminate the hall.
Between us, where the fire had devoured all of the ingredients a golem
was standing, as tall as a young troll. He was slightly floating above
the ground, small white clouds surrounding its feet. His strong looking
body and arms were made of earth, ashes and mud. It seemes that the
surface was always moving, just like a waters surface. As it opened
its eyes, staring right at me, I saw the fire, burning inside of this
magical creature. It jsut stood there, await orders it seemed. I couldn't
help but chuckle as I felt an intense feeling of magic energy woven
together as the Da'Sha circle members began to identify and study the
result of this ancient and forgotten gypsy ritual.
