After
many years the gnomes began to feel safe in their new settlement the Village
of Getlin. No attacks from the trolls have been seen nor heard of. So
finally the gnomes could live happily again. Fear and everything else
that could bother one was gone.
The gnomes started to replinish their race and began to live a new
life. School bells ring as the children run out of the shcool house
quickly to play in the garden. Prayers can be heard coming from within
the temple. Villagers roam the streets as everything is finely alright
in their lives.
Well not long after, outside of the village, Noslen Dragonsbane, Leader
of the Trollish ARmy got word of the gnomes where abouts. He started
informing his army of their plan to send one last and final raid on
the gnomes. "We will defeat all, and burn down their buildings!"
Noslen shouted. The groups of trolls started to get rowdy, and started
to yell, "take no prisoners!"
As the sun rose the trolls were geared up and ready to begin travelling.
It was going to be a long journey since they could not pass through
Kettin. So they set off on their journey. Walking through the forest,
trees started to shake as all of the large trolls marched in sync.
With no worries in the world, and unknowing of the trolls approach,
the gnomes continued to live day to day. All of the patrol guards sat
around in their guard shack fiddiling with some armor. Lewin paced around
his shop building magnificent gnomish clocks. Villagers walked up and
down the street engaging in friendly conversation.
Further along their way the trolls stumble into Eria to rest for the
night. Later on that night a few of the trolls walked into the bar to
have a couple of drinks. While drinking they started to talk among one
another about the evil they were about to commit.
A half-elf that goes by the name of Pecious sat in the corner of the
bar listening very closely to them. The trolls paid him no mind for
the mere fact that they had only one thing in mind, gnomes. After a
short while of the trolls talking, Pecious realized what they were planning.
As quickly and silently as he possibly could, Pecious made his way out
of the bar and on his way to Getlin.
He ran as fast as he could, running out of breath and stumbling to
the ground, but continued to move on. He kept travelling straight on
through the night. By day break he had reached Getlin, out of breath
and looking very tired. He walked straight to the fountain and splashed
some water on his face, and then continued straight to the temple to
find Craylin.
Once he found Craylin, he informed him on what the trolls were planning
and where they were at now. Craylin thanked Pecious for his concern,
but told him there wasn't much more that he could do and should return
home. Pecious told Craylin, "on behalf of the half-elves, we will
help." Craylin gave a brief smile and replied,"thank you for
your bravery and help." Craylin told him to hurry as time was growing
short.
Craylin then exited the temple right behind Pecious and went around
the village in search of Rhyein. He found him laying out in the garden
soaking up the morning sun. Craylin told him the news that Pecious had
brought and told him that this wasn't enough. Craylin said,"I need
you to search the realm and find anyone that is willing to help. It
doesn't matter what race, just not troll's, and you must hurry."
So Rhyein set off on his journey.
Meanwhile the trolls were making their way through the Fetin Swamp.
Knocking trees over as they marched through the thick sludge, nothing
was to stand in their way. They kept moving on southward into the city
of Windy Bluff. Looking around for any sign of gnomes, luckily none
were in sight. The trolls decided that they would go just south of the
town Windy Bluff, ans set up camp on the Plains of Gorud.
As time grows even shorter no word has been sent on Pecious' or Rhyein's
where abouts. They were still out in the realm gathering up armies of
support. Craylin informed everyone in the village about this attack,
so the village was dead quiet by nightfall. All of the villagers tucked
away safe in their homes, as the guard were standing at the gate while
two other guards were high up in the tower, waiting impatiently.
Pecious was on his way back to Getlin with an army of half-elves. They
were running through the forest as quickly as possible trying to et
back as fast as they could. The nightfall was near its end, so they
can't stop now. Pecious urges them to keep moving, for they are running
out of time. At the tip of day break they reach Getlin. Pecious shouts,"it
is I, Pecious Rashier, General of the half-elven army. We are here to
help." Cryalin walks up to Pecious and thank him.
Craylin takes a deep sigh and says,"we still haven't heard from
Rhyein, I'm afraid the trolls may have gotten him. And also our time
is running very short. I'm afraid that the half-elves and us aren't
enough to hold off the attacks of the trolls. We could hold them off
for a short while, but in the end we will be defeated." Everyone's
smiles soon faded.
As the fog still rises off of the lake in the early morning, the trolls
make their way across it silently by boat. They try to see around the
forest trees in the fog due to an almost silent noise that was heard
up ahead. Unable to see through the thick fog they decided it was nothing.
The trolls continue to the other side of the lake and silently exit
the boats.
At that same moment Rhyein comes running into the village all alone.
He quickly runs up to Craylin. Craylin asks,"where's the extra
support?" Rhyein put his hand on Craylin's shoulder and replied,"they're
on their way, but I'm afraid it's to late. I passed the trolls as they
were crossing the lake. They're only half a days walk away." Craylin
sighs and says,"I'm afraid we won't be able to hold them off. I
believe it is time to give up." Rhyein's eyes widen as he shouts,"NO!
I will never give up."
Rhyein shouted out all archers line up, all swordsmen in front of them.
Protect this gate at all costs. We will not be defeated, Rhyein yelled.Everyone
ran to their positions and quietly waited. Craylin retreated back to
his temple to pray.
The trolls made their way into Varin, and Noslen grouped up his men
for one last speech. Noslen began to speak,"men, we are going in
there to kill everyone. Nobody lives!" Noslen roared. Noslen continued,"Once
we are through brutally slaughtering them, we will burn down their village."
Noslen motioned to continue on.
Once they got to the top of a hill, they paused. Not expecting to see
such a sight, a large army of gnomes and half-elves lined the gate wall
to the village. They weren't to aroused by this, because the army didn't
match the hundreds upon hundreds of trolls that stood their. And then
a smirk came about Noslen's face, and a loud echoin battlehorn sounded.
Noslen shouted,"Charge!" And the hundreds of trolls roared
as they charged down the hill. Rhyein yelled,"ignite your arrows...
Set your positions... Get ready... One more second... Get ready... The
trolls were getting closer and closer. FIRE! Rhyein roared. Streams
of flaming arrows soared through the sky. As they started to come down
they nailed some of the trolls wounding them badly.
The other trolls just walked right over them and continued down the
hill. More arrows came flying down at the trolls taking more of them
to the ground, but the others continued to charge. As they drew closer
to the walls the swordsmen took charge.
The sounds of swords slicing through the bodies of trolls echoed throughout
the forest. Blood was flying all over everything. A few trolls would
hold their arms out as they charged through the army of swordsmen, causing
the small gnomes to go flying through the air. The trolls wouldn't get
much further after that, because the archers were standing there ready
to fire.
After awhile it almost looked like the gnomes were winning, when all
of a sudden the back line of the trollish army started throwing boulders
twice the size of the gnomes. The first boulders took out a good bit
of the archers. The second set of boulders started to demolish the guard
wall. It wasn't looking good for the gnomes at this point, but they
kept up the fight.
The sounds of roars let off by dying trolls shook the ground. The cries
of the gnomes falling was quite saddening. Nobody could've imagined
this much tragedy in one day. Fallen bodies were everywhere and the
battle still raged on.
From a distance Rhyein stood their watching with a look of sorrow about
his face. He couldn't believe what was happening. Then at that instant
a loud roar surrounded the forest, and Rhyein's face started to look
a little brighter.
At the top of the hill all the elven knights came riding down on their
faithful horses, with swords in their hands. Following closely behind
them were aryans, humans, glandars, orcs, and every other race one could
think of. They all came to help the gnomes.
As the elves rode through the battlefield, they were slicing through
trolls left and right. The roars let out as trolls were falling to the
ground everywhere. Rhyein started running towards the temple screaming,"Craylin!
It's working. It's working Craylin! The others have arrived!"
Craylin stood up from kneeling at the altar, and ran to Rhyein's calling.
They both ran outside to watch the battle. Boulders were flying all
over the place as the last of the trolls were going out with a fight.
The walls came crumbling down as the boulders struck them with a mighty
force.
The aryan's came in with the minotaurs and slashed the last of the
trolls with their mighty swords. As the last troll fell to the ground
a loud cheer echoed through the crowd.
Rhyein broke the cheer to a silence as he yelled,"where's Noslen?
I want his head." Everyone looked around, looking at the faces
of the fallen trolls. Noslen was nowhere to be found. Rhyein said,"he
probably escaped before he too was slayed."
Rhyein yelled," I want to thank all of you for coming to the aid
of the gnomes. We all are in debt to you, and will help you anytime
you may need it." Rhyein paused and then looked up to Craylin and
asked," what do we do now?"
Craylin replied," There comes a time in everyones life when they
must start over. We all were down that road not to long ago. Their is
many things that must be rebuilt and burials to arrange. We have a lot
of work ahead of us." Then Craylin bowed his head and started to
chant a powerful mantra, and then a bright light started to emit from
his staff.
The sun started to come back out. The wall was once again in tact.
The blood disappeared from everyones clothes. The corpses started to
evaporate into nothingness one by one until they were all gone.
Everyone looked around, astonished at what they had just witnessed.
Everyone started to smile and hug one another, for they were happy to
all be alive.
