"I sense darkness in the future not for you for someone yet to come
to you. Perhaps your child? I see visions of hatred, destruction. And
he will be there, witnessing it. Accusations of terrible crimes. The
world will be awful for your family. But you will not live to see it."
Prophecy of an Elven Gypsy, given to the Sempir family.
Milada and Greshin Sempir did have a child soon after. The young boy
was named Horune, after his grandfather. The Sempir family were Elven
Nobles, cousins of the ruling Elf Lord. Horune was a highborn Elf, among
lowborns, and he knew it.
Horune was hated by most of the other Elves, but he didn't care. He
was a snobby, spoiled person. Everything went his way, or he would make
it go his way. Horune was a natural with weapons, and was trained as
a warrior from the age at which most Elves begin training, about 10.
Horune always stood above everyone, wanting recognition wherever he
went. He got it, too, but not quite the way he wanted it. Frightened
stares and running Elves greeted him everywhere. Horune would smack
people around if he felt the need, and people therefore got out of his
way.
Horune once scared one of the young lowborns, an Elf name Jehal Hatrin,
so badly he ran from the Elven lands, into the surrounding countryside.
Most of the adults went searching for him, and the children were left
alone. Horune took this chance to beat up many of the lowborns, and
force them to obey him.
Six days later, the adults returned. They found many things broken,
and not just furniture and homes. The young Elves all pointed to Horune,
and accused him of it. Horune, however, was ignored, as were all of
the children. Some of the younger ones started to cry and complain,
but then they saw what the older, taller Elves had already seen.
There were three coffins in the procession of adults.
Three names were on these coffins. Jehal Hatrin, Milada Sempir, and
Greshin Sempir. The army had run into a band of orcs, holding Jehal
hostage. Milada and Greshin had immediately ran in to attack, but were
killed immediately. The Elves fought bravely, and scattered the orcs,
but only after Jehal was killed as well.
Horune was blamed for this tragedy, and he was terrified. Horune stayed
at home, only leaving to go to his training. Horune devoted his life
to being a warrior, and he became one of the best the Elves had ever
seen.
However, this too was to come crashing down on Horune.
One day, Horune was in the forest with his teacher, Hitra Thista.
It was Horune's first patrol. When they were near the hidden entrance
to the Elven Lands, a thick mist began to rise.
"We better head back, I don't like this mist," said Hitra.
"You don't like it? Vampires do" said a harsh voice right nearby.
"Horune! Don't say that! The Vampires would never come here." Was
Hitra's reply.
Suddenly, fourteen Vampires jumped from the mist. Hitra fell to the
ground, mortally wounded. Horune shouted for help, then lunged against
them. Soon after, many Elves arrived to help. A battle ensued. Horune's
sword skills were no match for the fully grown Vampires, and he kept
missing. It must have looked like he was trying to fail.
The Vampires were repulsed, but not until after many lowborn Elves
were killed. Hitra's last words were: "Horune confessed it was him"
Horune had fallen victim to a simple Ventriloquate spell. But no one
believed him.
Horune was accused of showing the Vampires the secret entrance to
the Elven Lands. He was arrested, and was going to but put on a very
unfair trial. Horune didn't give them the chance to kill him for a crime
he didn't commit.
Horune ran from the Elven Lands. He ran for three days, before finally
arriving in Windy Bluff. Horune had lost everything. He had been a failing
warrior. He wanted to change everything to hide his identity. His class
was one of the things he changed. Horune wanted to be a priest, but
he didn't have the magical talent for it. Horune became a Knight.
When Horune emerged from the Halls of the Holy Order of Knights, he
was a different person.
The first person Horune met in his new life was a Druid, looking very
wise.
"Hello, my name is Avaricus. I've never seen you before! What's your
name?" the Druid said.
"My name is Malus Malus Remmin," was Horune's answer. From that day
forth, the boy named Horune Sempir died. Malus Remmin was the person
still alive. Malus decided, from that day forth, to stand for the Justice
he didn't get. Injustice was what made him a fugitive. No one else would
suffer his fate.
