Jehane's rain poured down from the sky upon my head, crowing it with
some sort of strange ritual taking place in my mind. I was wounded,
and I was lost. I walked northward out of Eria after I had a run-in
with a thief, who alerted the guards that I was a thief. The whole situation
was oddly amusing, maybe not to me, but to someone else. I felt drained,
weak, like something had taken all of my essence and forced it into
a bottle to be thrown into sea. I cursed my fangs, for they ached in
an annoying manor, I knew I needed blood and I was going to die without
it. I thought of Calinath, and Lacar, and Felenious. All my family,
since I had become a Magyker, and now it was going to end here? How
cruel was that? I was so lost in my need for blood I was partially blind.
I had hardly seen the tunnel rising above me. I walked through it, unknowing
of the darkness which had grown whilest I walked. Soon I was on the
other side, and I had turned south, because I saw a temple there, and
I figured that since there was a temple, there would be healers. I collapsed
at the doors with odd moon-shaped symbols everpresent on them.
Pain! I was being dragged by some men with blades in their hands,
toward what I did not know. Something inside me told me I had made a
bad decision to come to this temple, but I was too jaded in my need
for blood that I did not care, I just wanted some of the sweet liquid
which had sustained me since birth. We arrived in a larger chamber,
and I was thrown to my knees in front of a large pedestal. I looked
up at the top of the pedestal to see a man, dressed in blue, his chin
resting on his hand, looking down at me. I staggered to my feet and
looked back at the guards. A voice from the man on the pedestal made
my head turn.
"What is the meaning of your intrusion, vampire?" the man on the pedestal
rasped softly down at me.
"Sir, I was injured badly, as you can....see, and I'm in need...of
blood, if....you..have some to spare." My vision doubled, and the guards
threw me to the floor in a grovelling position. I shook my head and
stood to my feet.
The man looked down at me, "You may have your blood if you complete
one of our trials. You must address me as Temple Master, by the way,"
he grinned at the guards, "What you must do is fight one of my acolytes
in the arena. Then you shall have your blood, vampire. Then you shall
have it."
I nodded and bowed to the Temple Master. He nodded and had me take
away. I arrived in a room with a woman inside of it, and thus laid upon
the bed. The guards hurried out of the room to obey their other duties,
leaving me alone in this room with the woman. She walked over me, and
looked at the gash in my side, the stab wound in my chest, and the long
cut on my leg. She shook her head, taking some kind of potion from a
drawer. She administered it to me, saying, "This will make you sleepy,
you will wake up in time for your trial, vampire. I merely must repair
your broken body."
I nodded weakly, but passed out soon after i let my head fall to the
pillow. I awoke and dressed quickly, noticing my blade was gone, and
my pain was diminished, but i still needed blood, and very badly, as
I could not see straight. I walked out of the room to find two guards
standing in front of me. One of the guards looked at me, nodded and
grabbed my arm. The other guard grabbed my other arm, and I was being
dragged somewhere once more. I was shoved into an arena with a tall
man, silver hair donning his head. He was pale like I, but his pale
was more of an absence of sun, while mine was merely a family trait.
I stood to my full height, which wasn't very intimidating as he was
about my height. I looked into his eyes, and saw the same dead stare
if you looked into my own. I was fighting another vampire? The vampire
nodded, smiling, he said, "Hello, Vampire. Do not worry, your blood
will be drained and given to the moon spirit. I will destroy you, as
you are evil, and it is only right to do so." The man threw a kick into
my chest just as I was about to say something. I fell to the ground.
I was fighting a good vampire, like myself! I stood, shakily, looking
at him. He came at me, and I countered his attack with a punch to his
face, throwing him to the ground, as if a hammer had hit him. He stood,
glaring at me, he clawed the air as his fingernails grew into long claws.
His feral eyes glowed red, and he leapt at me, his fangs bared. I was
scratched along the chest, but I had grabbed his arm as I went down,
throwing him to the ground. I stood, grasping my chest, breathing heavily,
I jumped at him as he stood, throwing my foot into his chest, knocking
him down once more. I flicked claws out of each finger one at a time
as he stood, waiting for the perfect time. He glowered at me and ran
towards me. I took no hesitation, I twirled out of his path with a lithe
movement, and sliced into his throat. He fell to the ground, his jugular
exposed for the arena crowd to see. I looked down at him, and saw he
was still alive. I rested on my knees, looking into his eyes. "I am
not evil, young one. I am a vampire hunter, and I wish I coud have warned
you about using your instincts on me. As most vampires had not fought
their own kind, I have, and am not regarded as one of my kind. It is
sad to see such a young one as yourself die so wastefully. I will know
forever of your valiant struggle." I closed the now dead vmapire's eyes
and stood, looking at the shocked crowd. The guards came and shoved
me down on the vampire. I drank what was to be the blood they gave me
out of the neck of the younger one, and was sent on my way. I wandered
back to Eria, thankfully the guards had forgotten everything about the
thief incident, and I passed on to Windy, where I met Lacar and Calinath
at the tavern.
